JERSEY’S Luke Harris has vowed to “give everything” for Birmingham City, after putting pen to paper on a season-long loan from parent club Fulham.

The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at Exeter City, scoring four times in 21 matches for the EFL league One side, earning high praise from the Grecians manager Gary Caldwell, who was keen to keep Harris on his books for another season.

The Caesarean has made seven first-team appearances to date under Marco Silva for Fulham, including 70 minutes of the bench against champions Manchester City in the Premier League.

Founded in 1875, the Blues have spent around half of their history in the top-flight, but have now slipped down into League 1, finishing an agonising point short of safety in the 2023/24 Championship campaign.

Speaking to BluesTV, Harris said: “I am a team player. I will give everything every game and I like to score goals.

“Hopefully, I get some minutes playing here and, hopefully, I can get my first senior appearances for Wales.”

The midfielder, who chose to represent Wales at youth level, has been a key member of the Dragons U21 team, while receiving his first call-up to the senior squad last year.

Harris continued: “I am quite energetic, quite fit and I like playing that way.

“It is, obviously, a massive club, I can’t wait to get going.”

The 鶹man has experienced a very similar journey to another Fulham academy product in Jay Stansfield.

Now 21 years old, the forward also enjoyed a loan spell at Exeter prior to Harris’ arrival and then moved on to Birmingham City for the last campaign – the exact route that Harris has taken just one year later.

The teenager became new boss Chris Davies’ ninth signing since taking over the relegated side in June, after working under Ange Postecoglou at Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Harris’ first chance to appear in blue comes against Reading on Saturday.

The Royals struggled to 17th in League 1 following a tumultuous season which included a six-point deduction, to bring their total amount deducted in two years to a staggering 16 points during a period marred by financial difficulty.

There is certainly a buzz around St Andrew’s Park however, as Harris adds more star quality to Davies’ new recruits.
